IVAM
The show devoted to the artists Joana Hadjithomas and Khalil Joreige is a joint production with the Jeu de Paume in Paris, the Haus der Kunst in Munich and the Sharjah Art Foundation in Sharjah. This is the first exhibition of its kind that has been devoted to them by a Spanish institution. The two artists, both born in 1969, use various visual languages, concentrating their artistic practice on images and representations and the history of their native country, Lebanon, and on the fabrication of imaginaries and stories related to that country and the region around it, an area marked by violence and sectarian conflicts, pursuing their desire to redefine the systems of representation and thus to question the concepts of identity, memory, the individual and society.
