On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Marcel Duchamp Prize, the eac. has been invited by the ADIAF to join in the celebration of this event which will bring together more than a dozen events and exhibitions across the France through the networks of Frac and art centres.
It was in 1994 that Gilles Fuchs created the ADIAF, the Association for the International Diffusion of French Art with the ambition to act for the international influence of the French scene.
In 2000, he launched the Marcel Duchamp Prize, which aims to highlight the creative wealth of the French scene at the beginning of the 21st century, and to accompany the artists on their international journey. Accompanied by sponsors and working in close partnership with public institutions, the ADIAF has grown rapidly and today mobilizes 300 contemporary art collectors. Each year, this collector?s prize honours a winner among four French artists or artists residing in France, working in the field of visual arts: installation, video, painting, photography, sculpture, performance?
Like the essential artist who gives him his name ? and with the complicity of the Marcel Duchamp Association who supports this initiative- he distinguishes the most significant French artists of their generation and encourages all new artistic forms that stimulate creation.
Fruit of the will of two collectors, Sybil Albers and Gottfried Honegger, but also a place of celebration and support for the current creation, the eac. - Centre of Contemporary Art of National Interest, could only be fully associated with this anniversary.
This exhibition will be built around the notion of the Mediterranean, the one we fantasize about and which is anchored in great myths of our origins, but also the one that is lived in everyday life, far from the image of postcards, in the cruelty of our world today.
The exhibition will take place at level - 1 of the Donation Albers- Honegger and will be accompanied by rich outdoor video programming in the castle park during the summer of 2021.
