For Sèvres Outdoors, Laurent Tixador has taken on the challenge of building an on-site wooden cannon, using hand tools.
With no veritable homologue in military engineering, the work is no less capable - in theory - of launching projectiles. However, the purpose of this experiment has more to do with its manufacture than its effectiveness.
Working to produce a piece of artillery, with minimal, accessible means and a little elbow grease, is about fully exploring the DIY approach, a central concept in Laurent Tixador's work.
